Social media platforms have become integral parts of modern society, especially among young adults. While these platforms offer numerous benefits, concerns have been raised regarding their potential negative impact on mental health. This research aims to investigate the impact of social media on the mental health of young adults, exploring both the positive and negative aspects of social media use. Chapter 1 provides an introduction to the topic, discussing the background of the study, problem statement, objectives, limitations, scope, significance, structure of the research, and definitions of key terms. The chapter sets the foundation for the study by outlining the importance of understanding how social media affects the mental well-being of young adults. Chapter 2 presents a comprehensive literature review covering ten key aspects related to social media and mental health in young adults. This section explores existing research, theories, and findings on the topic, providing a thorough understanding of the current state of knowledge in this area. Chapter 3 outlines the research methodology employed in this study, detailing the research design, sampling techniques, data collection methods, and data analysis procedures.
