Social media has become an integral part of daily life for millions of people worldwide, offering platforms for communication, information sharing, and entertainment. However, concerns have been raised about the potential negative impact of social media on mental health, particularly in terms of user engagement and well-being. This research project aims to investigate and analyze the impact of social media on mental health by examining the relationship between user engagement with social media platforms and its effects on individual well-being. The study will begin with a comprehensive literature review to explore existing research on the topic, providing a foundation for the research methodology. Data will be collected through surveys and interviews with social media users to assess their usage patterns, motivations, and perceptions of the impact of social media on their mental health. Statistical analysis will be conducted to identify correlations between different types of social media engagement and mental health indicators. The research findings will be discussed in detail in Chapter Four, highlighting the key relationships between social media use and mental health outcomes. The implications of these findings for individuals, social media platforms, and mental health professionals will be considered, along with potential strategies for mitigating negative effects and promoting positive mental health in the digital age. In conclusion, this research project aims to contribute to the growing body of knowledge on the impact of social media on mental health. By examining user engagement and well-being in the context of social media use, this study seeks to provide insights that can inform interventions and policies to support healthier digital behaviors and improve mental health outcomes for individuals in the modern era.
