Social media has become an integral part of daily life for many young adults, offering various benefits such as connectivity, information sharing, and entertainment. However, there is growing concern about the potential negative impact of social media use on mental health in this demographic. This research project aims to explore and analyze the impact of social media on the mental health of young adults, focusing on potential associations with anxiety, depression, self-esteem, and overall well-being. Chapter 1 provides an introduction to the topic, including the background of the study, problem statement, objectives, limitations, scope, significance, structure of the research, and definitions of key terms. The literature review in Chapter 2 presents an extensive analysis of existing research on the relationship between social media use and mental health outcomes. This chapter will cover ten key themes, including social comparison, cyberbullying, sleep disturbances, and the influence of influencers and celebrities on young adults. Chapter 3 outlines the research methodology, detailing the research design, participants, data collection methods, and data analysis techniques. This chapter will also discuss ethical considerations, validity, reliability, and any potential biases in the research process. Chapter 4 presents the findings of the research, analyzing the data collected and discussing the implications of these findings in relation to the research questions and objectives.
