Plastic pollution has emerged as a global environmental challenge with far-reaching consequences for marine ecosystems. This research project titled "Assessment of the Impact of Plastic Pollution on Marine Ecosystems" aims to investigate and evaluate the detrimental effects of plastic pollution on marine environments. The study delves into the sources, distribution, and composition of plastic debris in the oceans, as well as its ecological and socio-economic impacts. Chapter One provides an introduction to the research, offering a comprehensive background of the study, highlighting the problem statement, objectives, limitations, scope, significance, structure, and definition of terms. Chapter Two presents a detailed literature review encompassing ten key areas related to plastic pollution in marine ecosystems, consolidating existing knowledge and identifying gaps in research. Chapter Three outlines the research methodology, including the study design, sampling techniques, data collection methods, and analytical tools employed to assess the impact of plastic pollution on marine ecosystems.
