The issue of microplastic pollution in coastal waters has become a growing concern due to its detrimental impact on marine ecosystems and human health. This research project aims to conduct a comprehensive analysis of microplastic pollution in the coastal waters of a specific location to understand the extent, sources, distribution, and potential ecological consequences of this environmental issue. The chosen location for this case study provides a unique opportunity to investigate the dynamics of microplastic pollution in a specific coastal ecosystem. Chapter One provides an introduction to the research topic, outlining the background of the study, defining the problem statement, stating the objectives, discussing the limitations and scope of the study, highlighting its significance, presenting the structure of the research, and defining key terms to provide a foundation for the subsequent chapters. Chapter Two consists of a detailed literature review that examines existing research on microplastic pollution in coastal waters. The review covers ten key aspects, including the sources of microplastics, their distribution in marine environments, the impacts on marine organisms, methods for detection and analysis, regulations and policies, and current mitigation strategies. Chapter Three focuses on the research methodology employed in this study. It includes a description of the research design, sampling methods, data collection techniques, laboratory analysis procedures, quality control measures, and data interpretation strategies. The chapter also discusses the ethical considerations and challenges faced during the research process. Chapter Four presents the findings of the research, detailing the results of the analysis of microplastic pollution in the coastal waters of the specific location.
