This research project focuses on the assessment of sustainable waste management practices in urban areas. The rapid urbanization and population growth have led to an increase in waste generation, posing significant environmental and health challenges. The effectiveness of waste management practices in urban areas plays a crucial role in mitigating these challenges and promoting environmental sustainability. Therefore, this study aims to critically evaluate the current waste management practices in urban areas and identify opportunities for improvement towards achieving sustainability goals. The research methodology involves a comprehensive literature review to explore existing knowledge and best practices in sustainable waste management. Data collection methods include surveys, interviews, and site visits to assess the current waste management infrastructure, policies, and practices in selected urban areas. The study will also analyze the environmental impacts of current waste management practices and evaluate their effectiveness in promoting sustainability. The findings of this research will provide valuable insights into the strengths and weaknesses of existing waste management practices in urban areas. The results will highlight areas for improvement, such as enhancing waste segregation, promoting recycling and composting, and implementing advanced technologies for waste treatment and disposal. The study will also identify barriers and challenges to sustainable waste management and propose recommendations for overcoming them.
