Plastic waste management has become a critical environmental issue in urban areas around the world. The rapid increase in plastic production and consumption has led to a corresponding rise in plastic waste generation, posing significant challenges for waste management systems. This research project aims to assess the effectiveness of current plastic waste management strategies in urban areas, with a focus on identifying areas for improvement and proposing sustainable solutions. The research begins with an introduction that provides background information on the problem of plastic waste in urban environments. The problem statement highlights the environmental and social impacts of inadequate plastic waste management practices, emphasizing the need for urgent action. The objectives of the study include evaluating existing plastic waste management strategies, identifying key challenges and limitations, and proposing recommendations for enhancing waste management practices. Through a comprehensive literature review, this research explores current trends and best practices in plastic waste management, drawing on insights from academic studies, industry reports, and government publications. The literature review covers topics such as plastic waste generation, collection and recycling systems, regulatory frameworks, and public awareness campaigns. By synthesizing existing knowledge, the research aims to provide a comprehensive overview of the state of plastic waste management in urban areas.
