Urban stormwater management is a critical aspect of sustainable urban development, particularly in the context of increasing urbanization and climate change impacts. Green infrastructure has emerged as a promising approach to address stormwater challenges while providing additional environmental and social benefits. This research project aims to assess the effectiveness of green infrastructure in urban stormwater management through a comprehensive evaluation of various green infrastructure practices and their performance in mitigating stormwater issues. The study will begin with an introduction to the significance of urban stormwater management and the role of green infrastructure in addressing these challenges. A thorough literature review will explore existing research on green infrastructure applications, benefits, and limitations in urban stormwater management. The research methodology will involve a combination of quantitative and qualitative approaches, including field assessments, data collection, and analysis of green infrastructure performance metrics. The findings from this research project will be presented in Chapter Four, providing a detailed discussion of the effectiveness of different types of green infrastructure in managing stormwater runoff. The analysis will consider factors such as infiltration rates, water quality improvements, and cost-effectiveness of green infrastructure solutions. The results will contribute to the understanding of how green infrastructure can be optimized for urban stormwater management to achieve both environmental and social objectives.
