Urban stormwater management is a critical aspect of sustainable urban planning, especially in the face of increasing urbanization and climate change impacts. Green infrastructure has emerged as a promising approach to mitigate the adverse effects of stormwater runoff in urban areas by mimicking natural hydrological processes. This research project aims to assess the effectiveness of green infrastructure in urban stormwater management through a comprehensive evaluation of different green infrastructure practices and their impact on stormwater quantity and quality. The study will begin with a thorough review of existing literature on green infrastructure and urban stormwater management to establish a theoretical framework for the research. Subsequently, a detailed analysis of various green infrastructure techniques, such as green roofs, permeable pavements, rain gardens, and bio-retention systems, will be conducted to assess their efficacy in reducing stormwater runoff volumes and improving water quality. The research methodology will involve both quantitative and qualitative approaches, including field surveys, data collection, hydrological modeling, and water quality analysis. The study will also consider the economic feasibility and environmental benefits of implementing green infrastructure practices in urban areas. The findings of this research are expected to provide valuable insights into the effectiveness of green infrastructure in urban stormwater management and its potential to address the challenges associated with urban flooding and water pollution. The results will contribute to the development of sustainable stormwater management strategies and inform policymakers, urban planners, and environmental practitioners on the benefits of integrating green infrastructure into urban planning and design.
