The rapid growth of urban areas has led to a significant increase in waste generation, posing environmental and public health challenges. Sustainable waste management practices are crucial to mitigate the negative impacts of urban waste. This research aims to assess the current state of waste management practices in urban areas and evaluate their sustainability. The study will investigate various aspects of waste management, including waste collection, segregation, treatment, and disposal methods. The research will begin with a comprehensive literature review to explore existing sustainable waste management practices and identify gaps in current approaches. Through a mixed-methods research design, data will be collected from both primary and secondary sources to provide a holistic understanding of the subject matter. Surveys, interviews, and site visits will be conducted to gather qualitative and quantitative data from waste management stakeholders, including local authorities, waste management companies, and residents. The methodology chapter will detail the research design, sampling techniques, data collection methods, and data analysis procedures. The research will employ both qualitative and quantitative analysis techniques to interpret the data collected and draw meaningful conclusions. Findings from the study will be presented in the discussion chapter, highlighting the key challenges, best practices, and opportunities for improving sustainable waste management in urban areas. The study aims to contribute to the existing body of knowledge on sustainable waste management by providing insights into effective strategies for urban waste reduction, recycling, and resource recovery. The significance of this research lies in its potential to inform policy development, urban planning, and community engagement initiatives aimed at promoting sustainable waste management practices. In conclusion, this research seeks to offer practical recommendations for enhancing sustainable waste management in urban areas, taking into account environmental, social, and economic considerations.
