Effective waste management is crucial for maintaining environmental sustainability in urban areas. This research project aims to assess the current waste management practices in urban areas and evaluate their sustainability. The study will focus on identifying challenges and opportunities for improving waste management systems to minimize environmental impact and promote sustainable practices. The research will begin with a comprehensive review of existing literature on waste management practices in urban areas. This literature review will provide insights into current trends, challenges, and best practices in sustainable waste management. The study will then move on to the research methodology, which will involve data collection through surveys, interviews, and site visits to waste management facilities in selected urban areas. The findings from the research will be presented in chapter four, which will include a detailed analysis of the current waste management practices, challenges faced by stakeholders, and opportunities for improvement. The discussion will highlight key issues such as waste segregation, recycling initiatives, landfill management, and public awareness campaigns. Recommendations for enhancing sustainable waste management practices will also be provided based on the research findings. In conclusion, this research project will contribute to the body of knowledge on sustainable waste management practices in urban areas.
