Waste management in urban areas has become a critical issue due to the increasing challenges of population growth and rapid urbanization. Sustainable waste management practices play a vital role in promoting environmental protection and public health. This research project aims to assess the effectiveness of sustainable waste management practices in urban areas, focusing on key aspects such as waste reduction, recycling, and proper disposal methods. The study will employ a mixed-methods approach, combining quantitative surveys and qualitative interviews to gather data from residents, waste management authorities, and environmental experts. Chapter 1 provides an introduction to the research topic, background information on waste management in urban areas, a clear problem statement highlighting the significance of the study, research objectives, limitations, scope, significance, structure, and definitions of key terms. Chapter 2 presents a comprehensive literature review covering ten key aspects related to sustainable waste management practices, including waste generation trends, recycling technologies, policy frameworks, and community engagement strategies. Chapter 3 outlines the research methodology, including the research design, sampling techniques, data collection methods, and data analysis procedures. The chapter also discusses ethical considerations, validity, and reliability of the research findings. Chapter 4 analyzes and discusses the research findings, presenting seven key themes related to the effectiveness of sustainable waste management practices in urban areas. The discussion includes an evaluation of current practices, challenges faced, and potential solutions for improvement. In conclusion, Chapter 5 summarizes the key findings of the research and provides recommendations for enhancing sustainable waste management practices in urban areas.
