This project aims to investigate how the risks mining poses to the environment can be mitigated through sustainable practices. Chapter 1 provides an overview of common environmental issues associated with mining such as water and air pollution, chemical spills, and habitat destruction. Chapter 2 examines regulatory frameworks and certification programs aimed at reducing mining's footprint. Chapter 3 analyzes strategies employed by leading companies in various mining subsectors. Chapter 4 presents case studies of mines that have successfully implemented rehabilitation and closure plans. Chapter 5 concludes with recommendations for how mining operations can adopt a more holistic approach to environmental stewardship throughout the project lifecycle.<br><br><br></p>
