The study investigates the impact of heavy rainfall on farmlands in Nigeria, focusing on Itu Local Government Area as a case study. Heavy rainfall is a common weather phenomenon in Nigeria, particularly during the rainy season. The research aims to assess how heavy rainfall affects agricultural productivity, soil quality, and crop yield in Itu Local Government Area. The study utilizes a combination of field surveys, interviews with local farmers, and analysis of meteorological data to understand the specific effects of heavy rainfall on farmlands. Preliminary findings indicate that heavy rainfall can lead to soil erosion, nutrient leaching, waterlogging, and crop damage in Itu Local Government Area. These effects pose significant challenges for farmers in the region, impacting their livelihoods and food security. The research also explores the coping strategies employed by farmers to mitigate the negative impacts of heavy rainfall on their farmlands.
