The Representation of Gender in Contemporary African Literature is a study that delves into the complex portrayal of gender roles, stereotypes, and identities in literary works produced by African writers in the modern era. This research aims to critically analyze how gender is depicted, constructed, and challenged in a selection of prominent African literary texts, exploring the diverse perspectives, themes, and narrative techniques employed by authors to engage with gender issues. Chapter One provides the foundational framework for the study, starting with an Introduction that sets the stage for the exploration of gender representation in African literature. The Background of Study offers insights into the historical and cultural contexts that have shaped gender dynamics in African societies and literature. The Problem Statement identifies the gaps and challenges in existing scholarship on gender in African literature, while the Objectives of Study outline the specific goals and research questions guiding this investigation. The Limitations of Study and Scope of Study delineate the boundaries and focus of the research, while the Significance of Study highlights the importance of examining gender representation in African literature.
