Project Abstract

This project aims to delve into the intricate narrative techniques employed in contemporary postcolonial literature, shedding light on the ways in which authors from formerly colonized nations have harnessed the power of storytelling to articulate their experiences, challenge dominant narratives, and forge new literary forms. In an era marked by a growing global awareness of the lasting impacts of colonialism, the study of postcolonial fiction has become increasingly vital, as it offers a unique window into the diverse perspectives and literary innovations that have emerged from these contexts. The project will examine a selection of critically acclaimed works of contemporary postcolonial fiction, focusing on the ways in which authors have experimented with narrative structure, point of view, language, and other literary devices to convey the complexities of postcolonial identity, history, and sociopolitical realities. By analyzing the narrative techniques employed in these works, the project aims to illuminate the diverse strategies that writers have adopted to assert their cultural autonomy, resist colonial legacies, and give voice to marginalized communities.
