Project Abstract

This project aims to delve into the captivating world of contemporary postcolonial novels, with a focus on the intricate narrative techniques employed by authors to convey their unique perspectives and experiences. In the wake of the decolonization movements that swept across the globe in the mid-20th century, a rich and diverse body of literature has emerged, reflecting the complex realities of former colonies and their struggle for self-determination. The significance of this project lies in its potential to shed light on the literary strategies used by postcolonial writers to challenge dominant narratives, give voice to marginalized communities, and reimagine the postcolonial experience. By analyzing the narrative techniques employed in these novels, we can gain a deeper understanding of how authors navigate the tension between tradition and modernity, individual and collective identity, and the interplay of power dynamics. The project will explore a carefully selected corpus of contemporary postcolonial novels, encompassing works from diverse geographical regions and cultural backgrounds.
