Abstract
This research study aims to investigate the impact of guidance and counseling on students' academic performance at Emmanuel College in Odeda, Ogun State, Nigeria. The study will focus on how guidance and counseling services provided to students can positively influence their academic achievements. The research will employ a mixed-methods approach, incorporating both quantitative and qualitative data collection methods to gain a comprehensive understanding of the subject matter. The research will involve surveying students at Emmanuel College to gather quantitative data on their perceptions of the guidance and counseling services available to them and how these services have impacted their academic performance. Additionally, qualitative data will be collected through interviews with guidance counselors, teachers, and school administrators to provide insights into the effectiveness of the guidance and counseling programs in place. Through the analysis of the data collected, this study seeks to identify the specific ways in which guidance and counseling services contribute to students' academic success. It will explore the role of guidance counselors in providing academic support, career guidance, and mental health services to students. Furthermore, the research will investigate the challenges and limitations faced by the guidance and counseling department at Emmanuel College and provide recommendations for improvement. The findings of this study are expected to contribute to the existing literature on the impact of guidance and counseling on student academic performance. By gaining insights into the experiences of both students and school staff, this research will offer valuable information that can be used to enhance the effectiveness of guidance and counseling services at Emmanuel College and similar educational institutions. Overall, this study aims to shed light on the importance of guidance and counseling in promoting students' academic success and well-being. By understanding the factors that contribute to positive academic outcomes, schools can better support their students in achieving their full potential. The research findings will be valuable for school administrators, educators, counselors, and policymakers involved in improving educational outcomes and student welfare.
