Abstract
This research study aims to investigate the impact of minimum wage policies on employment levels in the retail sector. The implementation of minimum wage laws has been a topic of debate in recent years, with proponents arguing that it helps improve the standard of living for low-wage workers, while opponents suggest that it may lead to job losses and reduced employment opportunities. The retail sector, being one of the largest employers of low-wage workers, provides an ideal setting to explore the effects of minimum wage policies on employment. The study will be guided by a mixed-methods approach, incorporating both quantitative analysis of employment data and qualitative insights from interviews with retail industry stakeholders. Chapter one provides an introduction to the research topic, background information, problem statement, objectives, limitations, scope, significance, structure of the research, and definition of key terms. Chapter two presents a comprehensive literature review covering ten key themes related to minimum wage policies, employment dynamics in the retail sector, and previous research findings. Chapter three outlines the research methodology, including the research design, data collection methods, sampling techniques, data analysis procedures, ethical considerations, and research limitations. The study will utilize both primary and secondary data sources to ensure a robust analysis of the research question. Chapter four presents the detailed discussion of findings, analyzing the impact of minimum wage policies on employment levels in the retail sector based on the data collected and reviewed literature.
