Abstract
This research study aims to examine the effects of minimum wage policies on employment rates in developing countries. The issue of minimum wage has been a topic of debate among policymakers, economists, and the public for decades, with proponents arguing that it helps improve the standard of living for low-income workers, while opponents claim that it leads to job loss and reduced employment opportunities. This study seeks to contribute to this ongoing debate by providing empirical evidence on the impact of minimum wage policies on employment rates specifically in developing countries. The research will utilize a mixed-methods approach, combining both quantitative and qualitative analyses to provide a comprehensive understanding of the relationship between minimum wage policies and employment rates. The quantitative analysis will involve the collection and analysis of secondary data from various developing countries to examine trends in minimum wage levels and employment rates over time. Additionally, qualitative data will be gathered through interviews and surveys with key stakeholders such as policymakers, employers, and workers to gain insights into their perspectives on minimum wage policies and their effects on employment. The study will be structured into five main chapters. Chapter 1 will provide an introduction to the research topic, background information on minimum wage policies, the problem statement, objectives, limitations, scope, significance, structure of the research, and definitions of key terms. Chapter 2 will present a comprehensive literature review on minimum wage policies, employment, and the existing empirical evidence on the impact of minimum wage on employment rates in developing countries. Chapter 3 will outline the research methodology, including the research design, data collection methods, sampling techniques, and data analysis procedures. Additionally, this chapter will discuss the ethical considerations and potential limitations of the research methodology. Chapter 4 will present the findings of the study, including the quantitative analysis of minimum wage policies and employment rates, as well as the qualitative insights from key stakeholders. Finally, Chapter 5 will provide a conclusion and summary of the research findings, highlighting the implications of the study for policymakers, employers, and workers in developing countries.
