Project Abstract

This project aims to address the challenge of enhancing crop resilience to multiple environmental stresses through multi-trait breeding approaches. Climate change has led to increased occurrences of multiple abiotic and biotic stresses, posing significant threats to global food security. Traditional breeding methods often focus on single stress tolerance, overlooking the complex interactions among different stress factors. This project will explore the integration of multiple stress tolerance traits in crop breeding programs to develop resilient varieties capable of withstanding diverse environmental challenges. The research will involve the identification of key genetic loci associated with stress tolerance traits, the development of molecular markers for multi-trait selection, and the evaluation of the performance of multi-stress tolerant crop lines under field conditions.
