This research study investigates the impact of co-operative business models on economic development in rural communities. Co-operatives have long been recognized as a viable and sustainable form of business organization that can contribute to economic growth, poverty reduction, and community development. However, there is a need for a comprehensive analysis of how co-operative business models specifically affect economic development in rural areas. This research aims to fill this gap by examining the role of co-operatives in promoting economic development in rural communities. The study begins with an introduction to the topic, providing background information on co-operative economics and management. The problem statement highlights the challenges facing rural communities in terms of economic development and identifies the potential benefits of co-operatives in addressing these challenges. The objectives of the study are outlined to guide the research process, while the limitations and scope of the study are also discussed. A thorough review of the existing literature on co-operative business models and their impact on economic development forms the basis of Chapter Two. This chapter examines various studies, theories, and models related to co-operatives in rural settings, providing a comprehensive overview of the current state of knowledge in this field.
