Project Abstract

This research work is concern with important of Internal Auditing with particular reference to Union Bank Nigeria Plc. Benin City as a case study for the purpose of understanding auditing and its role as a managerial tool. The study is divided into five chapters. In chapter one, which is the introduction to the research work, definition of internal auditing were discussed, this chapter goes further to discuss internal auditing as a managerial tool for effective management.

The next chapter is a general discussion of the brief history of Union Bank Nigeria Plc, which is the case study and auditing in general. Talking of the principle of auditing, types of audit and finally internal audit and its importance and the view of others. Chapter three highlighted the methodology use to realize this research work. Chapter four is all about analyzing the data gathered in the course of theresearch. The research is concluded in chapter five and adequate recommendation was given to the improvement of internal auditing and also a help or guide for companies, bank and other business organization s, who has not effect or strengthen internal audit.
