Project Abstract

Abstract
The financial sector in Nigeria has experienced significant changes with the introduction and adoption of computerization. This research project focuses on analyzing the impact of computerization on the performance of the financial system in Nigeria. The study employs a mixed-methods approach, combining quantitative data analysis with qualitative insights to provide a comprehensive understanding of the subject matter. Through the analysis of statistical data on key financial indicators before and after the computerization process, this research aims to assess the extent to which computerization has influenced the efficiency, accuracy, and overall performance of Nigeria's financial system. Additionally, interviews and surveys with key stakeholders in the financial sector will be conducted to gather qualitative data on their perceptions of the benefits and challenges associated with computerization. The findings of this research project are expected to contribute to the existing body of knowledge on the impact of technology on financial systems, particularly in the context of developing countries like Nigeria. By examining the specific factors that have influenced the performance of computerization in Nigeria's financial sector, this study seeks to provide valuable insights for policymakers, regulators, and financial institutions to enhance the effectiveness of technology adoption in the industry. Overall, this research project aims to shed light on the role of computerization in transforming the financial landscape of Nigeria, with implications for improving efficiency, transparency, and accessibility within the sector. The results of this study will not only benefit academics and researchers interested in the intersection of technology and finance but also provide practical recommendations for stakeholders to harness the full potential of computerization in driving sustainable economic growth and development in Nigeria.

According to Mbam (2017) computer is a face and accurate symbol or data manipulating device or system that will accept and store input data, process them and produce outputs under the influence of a stored program of instructions. He also defined computer as an electronic device capable of accepting data as input, process that data according to pre-defined instructions and produces end reports as results, correlates or otherwise process and prints information derived from coded data in accordance with a predetermined programme. Further to the definition of computer, the Nigeria institute of bankers defined computers as an electronic device, which receipt of an appropriate input is capable of processing the input according to a set of previously instructions and making the results or output available if desired.

Computer as a piece of machine, which is dumb and unintelligible (Agbata 2010). It remains unintelligible until made to be otherwise.
