Abstract
This research project aims to investigate the effects of agricultural loans on farming activities in Nigeria. Agriculture is a critical sector in Nigeria's economy, employing a significant portion of the population and contributing to the nation's food security. However, limited access to finance has been a major impediment to the growth of the agricultural sector in the country. The study will utilize statistical analysis to examine the relationship between agricultural loans and various farming activities such as crop production, livestock rearing, and agribusiness ventures. Data will be collected from farmers who have accessed agricultural loans from different financial institutions in Nigeria. The research will focus on assessing how agricultural loans impact farmers' productivity, income levels, and overall agricultural output. Additionally, the study will investigate the challenges faced by farmers in accessing agricultural loans, including bureaucratic processes, high interest rates, and collateral requirements. Furthermore, the project will analyze the effectiveness of existing agricultural loan schemes and programs in Nigeria, such as the Agricultural Credit Guarantee Scheme Fund (ACGSF) and the Bank of Agriculture (BOA). By evaluating the performance of these programs, the research aims to provide insights into how agricultural financing can be improved to better support farmers and enhance agricultural productivity in the country. The findings of this study are expected to contribute to the existing body of knowledge on agricultural finance in Nigeria and provide valuable information for policymakers, financial institutions, and other stakeholders in the agricultural sector. By understanding the impact of agricultural loans on farming activities, stakeholders can develop strategies to address the challenges faced by farmers in accessing finance and create more effective agricultural financing mechanisms. Overall, this research project seeks to shed light on the importance of agricultural loans in driving agricultural development in Nigeria and offer recommendations for enhancing access to finance for farmers. Through empirical analysis and statistical methods, the study aims to provide valuable insights that can inform policy decisions and initiatives aimed at promoting sustainable agricultural growth and food security in the country.

INTRODUCTION 1.0 Background of the Study Since the discovery of crude oil in Nigeria, farming activities has had its fare share of inconsistencies and relegation. Agriculture is a very important sector of Nigeria’s economy. Its role in economic development cannot be over emphasized; umar 2004 opined that between 1960 1976 alone, agriculture accounted for 40 to 60 percent of the n
