Abstract
As urbanization continues to expand, the need for green spaces within cities becomes increasingly imperative to improve the quality of life for urban dwellers and mitigate environmental challenges. Vertical gardens offer a promising solution for integrating nature into the built environment, providing numerous benefits such as improved air quality, reduced urban heat island effect, and enhanced aesthetic appeal. This research project aims to explore the design and implementation of sustainable vertical gardens in urban environments, with a focus on maximizing environmental benefits and ensuring long-term viability. The study begins with a comprehensive review of existing literature on vertical gardens, sustainable design principles, and urban green infrastructure. By synthesizing key findings from previous research, the project establishes a theoretical framework for understanding the role of vertical gardens in urban sustainability and the factors influencing their success. The literature review also identifies current challenges and gaps in knowledge, providing a basis for the subsequent research methodology. The research methodology encompasses a mixed-methods approach, combining qualitative and quantitative data collection techniques to investigate the design, construction, and maintenance of vertical gardens in urban settings. Through site visits, interviews with experts, and surveys of residents, the study aims to assess the effectiveness of different vertical garden designs in enhancing urban sustainability and community well-being. Utilizing both empirical data and theoretical analysis, the research seeks to develop practical guidelines for designing and managing sustainable vertical gardens in diverse urban contexts. The findings of the study reveal the significant environmental and social benefits of vertical gardens in urban environments, including improved air quality, temperature regulation, and psychological well-being. By integrating green infrastructure into the urban fabric, vertical gardens have the potential to enhance biodiversity, reduce energy consumption, and promote social interaction among residents.
