Abstract
Urban redevelopment projects play a crucial role in shaping the sustainable future of cities by addressing the challenges of urbanization, environmental degradation, and social equity. This research focuses on the implementation of sustainable design principles in urban redevelopment projects to create more resilient and livable urban environments. The study aims to explore the integration of sustainable design practices in the planning, design, and construction phases of urban redevelopment projects and investigate their impact on the social, economic, and environmental aspects of urban development. The research begins with a comprehensive review of the literature on sustainable design principles, urban redevelopment, and the intersection between the two fields. The literature review identifies key concepts, best practices, and case studies that demonstrate successful implementation of sustainable design principles in urban redevelopment projects. This review serves as a foundation for understanding the current state of sustainable urban development and the challenges and opportunities associated with integrating sustainability into urban redevelopment projects. The methodology chapter outlines the research approach, data collection methods, and analysis techniques employed in this study. A mixed-methods approach is adopted to gather both qualitative and quantitative data from various sources, including interviews with urban planners, architects, developers, and community stakeholders, as well as document analysis and site visits to selected urban redevelopment projects. The research methodology aims to provide a comprehensive understanding of the factors influencing the successful implementation of sustainable design principles in urban redevelopment projects. The findings chapter presents the results of the research, highlighting the key challenges, opportunities, and best practices identified in the integration of sustainable design principles in urban redevelopment projects. The discussion focuses on the social, economic, and environmental impacts of sustainable urban development, including improvements in community well-being, resource efficiency, and climate resilience. The findings also address the role of stakeholders, policy frameworks, and design strategies in fostering sustainable urban redevelopment. In conclusion, this research underscores the importance of implementing sustainable design principles in urban redevelopment projects to create more sustainable, resilient, and inclusive cities. By integrating sustainability into urban planning and design processes, cities can address pressing environmental and social challenges while enhancing the quality of life for residents.
