Urbanization has led to the proliferation of concrete jungles, resulting in numerous environmental and social challenges. The integration of green spaces in urban development has emerged as a critical strategy to promote sustainability and enhance the quality of urban living. This research explores the significance of incorporating green spaces into urban landscapes and the potential benefits they offer in terms of environmental, social, and economic sustainability. The study begins with an examination of the background and context of urban development, highlighting the increasing importance of green spaces in mitigating urban challenges. The problem statement identifies the lack of green spaces in many urban areas and the negative impact this has on environmental health and community well-being. The research objective is to investigate how the integration of green spaces can contribute to sustainable urban development. The literature review delves into existing studies and theories related to green spaces and urban sustainability. Ten key themes are identified, including the environmental benefits of green spaces, the social impacts on community well-being, and the economic advantages for cities. The review provides a comprehensive understanding of the current state of knowledge in this field and sets the foundation for the empirical research. The research methodology section outlines the approach taken to investigate the research questions. Eight components are detailed, including the research design, data collection methods, sampling strategy, and data analysis techniques. The study adopts a mixed-methods approach to gather both quantitative and qualitative data, allowing for a comprehensive assessment of the impact of green spaces on urban development. The discussion of findings chapter presents the results of the empirical research, highlighting the key findings related to the benefits of green spaces in urban areas. Seven main themes are discussed, including improved air quality, enhanced biodiversity, increased social cohesion, and economic growth. The findings underscore the importance of integrating green spaces into urban development plans to create sustainable and livable cities. In conclusion, the research emphasizes the critical role of green spaces in promoting sustainable urban development. The study demonstrates that green spaces offer a wide range of benefits, from environmental conservation to social inclusion and economic prosperity. By integrating green spaces into urban landscapes, cities can create healthier, more resilient communities that prioritize both human well-being and environmental sustainability.
