The increasing global urbanization has brought about a pressing need for sustainable design principles to be integrated into urban housing developments. This research project aims to investigate and explore the application of sustainable design principles in urban housing developments, with a focus on promoting environmental, social, and economic sustainability. The study will delve into the background of sustainable design in the context of urban housing, identifying the challenges faced in current housing developments and the importance of adopting sustainable practices. Chapter One of the research provides an introduction to the topic, presenting the background of the study, problem statement, objectives, limitations, scope, significance, structure of the research, and definition of key terms. The chapter sets the foundation for the subsequent chapters by outlining the research framework and guiding principles. Chapter Two consists of a comprehensive literature review that examines existing studies, theories, and practices related to sustainable design principles in urban housing developments. The review covers ten key areas, including sustainable architecture, energy efficiency, green building materials, urban planning strategies, community engagement, and affordability in sustainable housing. Chapter Three details the research methodology employed in this study, outlining the research design, data collection methods, sampling techniques, and data analysis procedures. The chapter provides insights into how the research aims and objectives will be achieved through a systematic and structured approach. In Chapter Four, the findings of the research are discussed in-depth, highlighting key insights, trends, challenges, and opportunities identified through data analysis and interpretation. The chapter presents seven key items based on the research findings, offering a critical analysis of the application of sustainable design principles in urban housing developments.
