The adaptive reuse of industrial buildings presents a promising avenue for sustainable urban development in response to the challenges posed by rapid urbanization and environmental concerns. This research project explores the potential of repurposing existing industrial structures to meet the evolving needs of urban areas while promoting sustainability. The study aims to investigate the opportunities and constraints associated with adaptive reuse practices and their implications for creating more environmentally friendly and socially inclusive urban environments. Chapter 1 provides an introduction to the research topic, outlining the background of the study, problem statement, objectives, limitations, scope, significance, structure of the research, and definitions of key terms. The chapter sets the stage for understanding the importance of adaptive reuse in the context of sustainable urban development. Chapter 2 conducts a comprehensive literature review, examining ten key aspects related to adaptive reuse of industrial buildings, including historical precedents, economic benefits, environmental impacts, social implications, design considerations, regulatory challenges, community engagement, case studies, best practices, and emerging trends. The review synthesizes existing knowledge and identifies gaps in research to guide the subsequent investigation. Chapter 3 details the research methodology employed in this study, encompassing eight components such as research design, data collection methods, sampling techniques, data analysis procedures, ethical considerations, limitations of the methodology, validity, and reliability. The methodology aims to provide a robust framework for collecting and analyzing data to address the research objectives effectively. Chapter 4 presents a thorough discussion of the research findings, drawing on seven key themes identified through data analysis.
