This research project focuses on the implementation of sustainable design practices in urban development projects to promote long-term viability and resilience in built environments. The study seeks to investigate the current practices, challenges, and opportunities associated with integrating sustainability principles into urban development projects, with a specific emphasis on environmental conservation, social equity, and economic viability. Chapter One provides an introduction to the research topic, presenting the background of the study, problem statement, objectives, limitations, scope, significance, structure of the research, and definition of key terms. The chapter sets the foundation for understanding the importance of sustainable design practices in urban development projects and outlines the framework for the research study. Chapter Two conducts a comprehensive literature review, examining existing research, theories, and practices related to sustainable design in urban development. The chapter explores ten key themes, including sustainable urban planning, green building design, renewable energy integration, water management strategies, waste reduction techniques, sustainable transportation systems, community engagement, social equity considerations, economic implications, and policy frameworks. The literature review provides a comprehensive analysis of the current state of sustainable design practices in urban development and identifies gaps for further investigation.
