This research project aims to explore sustainable design practices in urban housing developments to address the challenges posed by environmental degradation, resource depletion, and climate change. The study seeks to investigate innovative design strategies, materials, and technologies that can enhance the sustainability of urban housing projects, promoting energy efficiency, waste reduction, and improved quality of life for residents. Chapter One provides an introduction to the research topic, presenting the background of the study, problem statement, objectives, limitations, scope, significance, structure of the research, and definition of key terms. The chapter sets the foundation for the subsequent chapters by outlining the context and rationale for the research. Chapter Two comprises a comprehensive literature review that examines existing studies, theories, and best practices related to sustainable design in urban housing developments. The review encompasses ten key areas, including sustainable architecture principles, green building certifications, passive design strategies, renewable energy integration, water conservation techniques, materials selection, community engagement, affordability considerations, policy frameworks, and case studies of successful sustainable housing projects.
