Project Abstract

Abstract
Broiler production is a key aspect of the poultry industry, with a focus on maximizing growth rates and feed efficiency. In this study, we investigated the physiological response of broiler birds to oral supplementation with Aloe vera and neem leaf extracts. Aloe vera and neem are known for their various bioactive compounds that exhibit a range of beneficial properties, including antimicrobial, anti-inflammatory, and antioxidant effects. A total of 120 broiler birds were randomly divided into four groups Control (no supplementation), Aloe vera, Neem, and Combination (Aloe vera and Neem). The birds were orally supplemented with the respective extracts from day 1 to day 42 of the study. Various physiological parameters were evaluated, including body weight gain, feed intake, feed conversion ratio, serum biochemical profiles, immune response, and gut health indicators. The results showed that birds supplemented with Aloe vera, Neem, and the combination of both extracts exhibited improved body weight gain compared to the control group. Feed conversion ratio was also significantly better in the supplemented groups, indicating enhanced feed efficiency. Serum biochemical profiles revealed beneficial effects on lipid metabolism and liver function in the supplemented groups. Furthermore, the immune response of the birds was positively influenced by the supplementation, as evidenced by higher antibody titers and lymphocyte proliferation rates. Gut health indicators, including intestinal morphology and microbial populations, were also improved in the supplemented groups, suggesting a potential role in promoting gut health and nutrient absorption. Overall, oral supplementation with Aloe vera and neem leaf extracts positively impacted the physiological responses of broiler birds, leading to improved growth performance, feed efficiency, immune response, and gut health. These findings suggest that Aloe vera and neem extracts could be valuable natural supplements in broiler production, offering a sustainable and effective approach to enhancing productivity and health in poultry farming. Further research is warranted to explore the mechanisms underlying these physiological responses and optimize supplementation strategies for maximum benefits in broiler production.
