Abstract
This research project delves into the effects of Economic Partnership Agreements (EPAs) on agricultural trade between small and large ECOWAS economies and the European Union (EU). The study aims to investigate how these agreements have impacted agricultural trade dynamics within the ECOWAS region and between the ECOWAS countries and the EU. The focus is on understanding the differential effects of EPAs on small and large economies within the ECOWAS region, particularly concerning agriculture. The research will employ a combination of quantitative and qualitative methods to analyze the agricultural trade patterns before and after the implementation of EPAs. By examining trade data, tariff structures, and trade policies, the study seeks to identify the specific changes brought about by EPAs in the agricultural sector. Additionally, interviews and surveys will be conducted with key stakeholders in the agricultural industry, including farmers, exporters, policymakers, and representatives from relevant institutions. The findings of this research are expected to provide valuable insights into the impact of EPAs on agricultural trade in the ECOWAS region. By comparing the experiences of small and large economies, the study aims to uncover potential disparities in the benefits and challenges posed by these agreements.
