Abstract
This research study aims to investigate the impact of mobile technology on agricultural extension services in rural communities. With the increasing penetration of mobile devices and connectivity in rural areas, there is a growing interest in leveraging these technologies to improve agricultural extension services and facilitate knowledge transfer among farmers. The study will focus on exploring how the use of mobile technology such as smartphones, apps, SMS services, and voice calls can enhance the effectiveness and reach of agricultural extension services in rural communities. The research will be conducted using a mixed-methods approach, combining qualitative and quantitative data collection methods. Surveys, interviews, and focus group discussions will be used to gather insights from farmers, extension agents, and other stakeholders involved in agricultural extension services. The study will be carried out in selected rural communities, taking into consideration factors such as access to mobile networks, literacy levels, and existing infrastructure. The literature review will examine existing studies on the use of mobile technology in agricultural extension services, highlighting best practices, challenges, and opportunities. Key themes such as knowledge dissemination, adoption of new technologies, user engagement, and impact assessment will be explored to provide a comprehensive understanding of the subject matter. The research methodology will involve sampling participants, designing survey instruments, conducting interviews, and analyzing data using statistical tools and qualitative analysis techniques. The study will also consider ethical considerations related to data collection and participant confidentiality. The findings of the research will be presented and discussed in Chapter Four, providing insights into the current state of agricultural extension services in rural communities and the potential benefits of integrating mobile technology. The discussion will highlight key findings, implications for practice, and recommendations for further research and policy development. In conclusion, this research will contribute to the growing body of knowledge on the impact of mobile technology on agricultural extension services in rural communities.
