Project Abstract

This project aims to address the critical issue of limited access to agricultural extension services faced by smallholder farmers in developing regions. Agricultural extension services play a crucial role in disseminating knowledge, providing technical support, and empowering farmers to improve their productivity, income, and overall well-being. However, smallholder farmers, who are often the backbone of local food systems, frequently encounter significant barriers in accessing these essential services. Leveraging technology and digital solutions The project will explore the use of digital technologies, such as mobile applications, online platforms, and remote advisory services, to enhance the reach and accessibility of extension services, especially in remote or underserved areas. 3. Establishing community-based extension models The project will explore the potential of community-based extension approaches, where lead farmers or community-based organizations are trained to provide extension services to their peers, fostering a more localized and sustainable system. 4. Improving coordination and collaboration The project will work to enhance the coordination and collaboration among various stakeholders, including government agencies, non-governmental organizations, and private sector actors, to create a more integrated and responsive extension service system. 5.
