Abstract
Climate change is a global phenomenon that has significant implications for agriculture, particularly in developing countries where agriculture plays a crucial role in the economy and livelihoods of the population. This research project aims to analyze the impact of climate change on crop yields and farmer income in a developing country, using a case study approach. The study will focus on understanding how changes in temperature, rainfall patterns, and extreme weather events associated with climate change affect crop production and, consequently, farmer income. The research will begin with a comprehensive review of existing literature on climate change, agriculture, and economic impacts, providing a theoretical framework for the study. This literature review will explore relevant concepts, theories, and empirical studies that have examined the relationship between climate change and agricultural productivity in developing countries. Methodologically, the study will employ a mixed-methods approach, combining quantitative analysis of agricultural and climate data with qualitative interviews and surveys with farmers and stakeholders in the selected developing country. The research methodology will involve data collection, analysis, and interpretation to assess the impact of climate change on crop yields and farmer income. Findings from the study will be presented and discussed in Chapter Four, providing an in-depth analysis of the effects of climate change on agricultural productivity and farmer livelihoods. The discussion will explore the challenges faced by farmers in adapting to changing climatic conditions, as well as potential strategies and interventions to enhance resilience and mitigate the negative impacts of climate change on crop yields and farmer income. In conclusion, this research project will contribute to the existing body of knowledge on the impact of climate change on agriculture in developing countries, with a specific focus on crop yields and farmer income.
