Abstract
Climate change poses a significant challenge to agricultural productivity, impacting the livelihoods of smallholder farmers in Nigeria. This study examines the effects of climate change on agricultural productivity among smallholder farmers in Nigeria. The research employs a case study approach to investigate the specific impacts of climate change on farming practices, crop yields, and income generation within this vulnerable population. Through a combination of quantitative and qualitative methods, data is collected to analyze the challenges faced by smallholder farmers in adapting to changing climatic conditions. The study also explores the various strategies employed by farmers to mitigate the effects of climate change on their agricultural activities. Findings from this research provide valuable insights into the complex interactions between climate change and agricultural productivity, offering recommendations for policy interventions and sustainable agricultural practices to support smallholder farmers in Nigeria. This study contributes to the existing literature on climate change adaptation in agriculture and serves as a resource for policymakers, researchers, and development practitioners working towards enhancing the resilience of smallholder farmers in the face of climate variability.
