Abstract
Climate change poses a significant threat to agricultural productivity globally, impacting smallholder farmers who rely heavily on agriculture for their livelihoods. This research study aims to analyze the impact of climate change on agricultural productivity, focusing on smallholder farmers in a specific region. The research methodology includes a comprehensive literature review to understand existing knowledge on the subject, followed by a detailed investigation into the specific challenges faced by smallholder farmers in the chosen region. Data collection methods include surveys, interviews, and field observations to gather primary data directly from the farmers themselves. The findings of this study reveal the various ways in which climate change is affecting agricultural productivity among smallholder farmers, including shifts in growing seasons, increased frequency of extreme weather events, and changes in pest and disease patterns. These impacts have led to decreased crop yields, loss of income, and food insecurity among smallholder farmers. Additionally, the study examines the adaptive strategies employed by farmers to cope with these challenges, such as changing crop varieties, adopting new farming techniques, and diversifying income sources. Through a detailed analysis of the research findings, this study provides valuable insights into the specific vulnerabilities of smallholder farmers to climate change and offers recommendations for policy interventions and support mechanisms to enhance their resilience. The significance of this research lies in its potential to inform policymakers, agricultural extension services, and development organizations on the urgent need to address climate change impacts on smallholder farmers and support them in building adaptive capacity.
