Abstract
Climate change has become a pressing global issue with far-reaching implications, particularly in the agricultural sector of developing countries. This study investigates the impact of climate change on agricultural productivity, focusing on smallholder farmers in a developing country. The research aims to provide insights into the challenges faced by smallholder farmers due to changing climatic conditions and explore potential adaptation strategies to mitigate these impacts. The study employs a mixed-methods approach, combining quantitative analysis of agricultural productivity data with qualitative interviews and surveys to gather perspectives from smallholder farmers directly affected by climate change. The research is guided by the theoretical framework of climate change adaptation and vulnerability, drawing on concepts of resilience and adaptive capacity in agricultural systems. Chapter One introduces the research topic, providing background information on the significance of climate change in agriculture, the specific challenges faced by smallholder farmers, and the objectives of the study. It also outlines the scope and limitations of the research, defines key terms, and discusses the structure of the research. Chapter Two presents a comprehensive literature review on climate change impacts on agricultural productivity, smallholder farming systems, and adaptation strategies. The review synthesizes existing knowledge on the subject, highlighting key findings and gaps in the literature. Chapter Three details the research methodology, including the study design, sampling techniques, data collection methods, and analytical procedures. The chapter discusses the rationale behind the chosen methodology and justifies its suitability for addressing the research objectives. Chapter Four presents the findings of the study, analyzing the data collected from smallholder farmers and exploring the implications of climate change on their agricultural practices and productivity.
