Abstract
Climate change poses a significant threat to agricultural systems globally, impacting crop yields and necessitating adaptation strategies for farmers to maintain productivity and sustainability. This research project aims to assess the impact of climate change on crop yields and explore the adaptation strategies employed by farmers in a selected region. The study will focus on understanding how changing climate patterns have influenced crop production, the challenges faced by farmers, and the effectiveness of their adaptation measures. The research will be conducted through a mixed-methods approach, combining quantitative analysis of crop yield data with qualitative interviews and surveys with farmers in the selected region. The data collected will be analyzed using statistical techniques to identify trends in crop yields over time and assess the relationship between climate variables and agricultural productivity. Qualitative data will provide insights into the challenges faced by farmers and the strategies they have adopted to cope with changing climate conditions. Chapter 1 provides an introduction to the research topic, including background information on climate change and its impact on agriculture, the problem statement, research objectives, limitations, scope, significance, structure of the research, and definition of key terms. Chapter 2 presents a comprehensive literature review covering ten key areas related to climate change impacts on crop yields and farmer adaptation strategies. Chapter 3 details the research methodology, outlining the research design, data collection methods, sampling techniques, data analysis procedures, and ethical considerations. The chapter includes eight sections that provide a detailed overview of how the research will be conducted. Chapter 4 presents the findings of the research, discussing the impact of climate change on crop yields in the selected region, the challenges faced by farmers, and the adaptation strategies employed. This chapter includes seven sections that analyze and interpret the data collected during the study. Chapter 5 concludes the research project, summarizing the key findings, discussing their implications for agricultural sustainability in the face of climate change, and providing recommendations for future research and policy development. The chapter also includes a summary of the research project as a whole. Overall, this research project aims to contribute to the understanding of how climate change affects crop yields and the adaptation strategies adopted by farmers in a selected region. By identifying effective adaptation measures and highlighting areas for improvement, this study seeks to support sustainable agricultural practices in the face of a changing climate.
