Project Abstract

This project aims to investigate the impact of agricultural policies on the income and productivity of smallholder farmers, a critical segment of the agricultural sector in many developing countries. Smallholder farmers, who often operate on small landholdings and have limited access to resources, play a crucial role in food production, rural development, and poverty alleviation. Understanding the effects of agricultural policies on this vulnerable group is essential for designing effective policy interventions that promote inclusive and sustainable agricultural growth. The project will focus on a case study in a developing country, where the government has implemented various agricultural policies, such as input subsidies, price support mechanisms, and extension services. The research will employ a mixed-methods approach, combining quantitative and qualitative techniques to generate a comprehensive understanding of the policy impacts. The quantitative component of the study will involve the analysis of secondary data, such as household surveys, agricultural statistics, and government records. This will enable the researchers to assess the economic impacts of agricultural policies on smallholder farmers' income, productivity, and other relevant indicators.
