Abstract
Telemedicine has emerged as a transformative tool in healthcare delivery, particularly in rural community settings where access to quality healthcare services is often limited. This thesis explores the impact of telemedicine on improving patient care in such rural communities. The study aims to investigate how telemedicine interventions contribute to enhanced patient outcomes, increased access to specialized care, and overall improvement in healthcare delivery. The research methodology employed a mixed-methods approach, combining quantitative analysis of patient data with qualitative interviews and surveys of healthcare providers and patients in rural communities. The literature review revealed a growing body of evidence supporting the effectiveness of telemedicine in improving patient care, reducing healthcare disparities, and increasing patient satisfaction. Findings from the study indicate that telemedicine interventions have a positive impact on patient care in rural communities. Patients reported increased access to healthcare services, reduced travel time and costs, and improved overall satisfaction with their care. Healthcare providers noted enhanced communication, collaboration, and coordination of care, leading to better health outcomes for patients. Despite these positive outcomes, several challenges and limitations were identified, including technological barriers, internet connectivity issues, and resistance to change among some healthcare providers.
