Abstract
Telehealth, a rapidly evolving form of healthcare delivery, has gained increasing attention for its potential to improve the management of chronic illnesses in older adults. This thesis explores the impact of telehealth on managing chronic illnesses in older adults, examining its effectiveness, challenges, and implications for healthcare delivery. The research is guided by the objective of assessing how telehealth interventions contribute to the management of chronic illnesses in older adult populations and identifying key factors that influence the implementation and outcomes of telehealth programs in this context. The literature review provides a comprehensive analysis of existing studies on telehealth and chronic illness management in older adults, highlighting the benefits and limitations of telehealth interventions in this population. Key themes identified in the literature include improved access to care, enhanced patient self-management, reduced healthcare costs, and potential barriers to telehealth adoption among older adults. The research methodology section outlines the design of a mixed-methods study that combines quantitative analysis of telehealth program outcomes with qualitative interviews to explore patient and provider perspectives on telehealth implementation. The study sample includes older adults with chronic illnesses receiving telehealth services, as well as healthcare providers involved in delivering telehealth care. Findings from the study reveal that telehealth interventions have a positive impact on managing chronic illnesses in older adults, leading to improved health outcomes, increased patient satisfaction, and enhanced care coordination.
