The rise of multi-drug resistant bacteria poses a significant threat to public health worldwide, necessitating the exploration of alternative antimicrobial agents. Essential oils have gained attention for their potential antimicrobial properties and their ability to combat drug-resistant bacteria. This thesis focuses on investigating the antimicrobial properties of essential oils against multi-drug resistant bacteria to provide insights into potential alternative treatments. Chapter One provides an introduction to the research topic, presenting the background of the study, the problem statement, objectives, limitations, scope, significance, structure of the thesis, and definitions of key terms. Chapter Two consists of a comprehensive literature review, analyzing previous studies on essential oils and their antimicrobial activities against various pathogens, including multi-drug resistant bacteria. Chapter Three details the research methodology, including the selection and extraction of essential oils, identification of multi-drug resistant bacteria strains, and antimicrobial susceptibility testing methods. This chapter also covers the experimental design, data collection procedures, and statistical analysis techniques employed in the study. In Chapter Four, the findings of the research are extensively discussed, focusing on the antimicrobial efficacy of different essential oils against multi-drug resistant bacteria.
