Thesis Abstract

Abstract
The rise of drug-resistant bacteria poses a significant threat to public health worldwide, prompting the urgent need for alternative antimicrobial agents. The present study focuses on exploring the antimicrobial properties of plant extracts as potential solutions to combat drug-resistant bacteria. Through an in-depth investigation, this research aims to evaluate the efficacy of various plant extracts in inhibiting the growth of drug-resistant bacterial strains. The study commences with a comprehensive introduction that outlines the background of the research, problem statement, objectives, limitations, scope, significance, and structure of the thesis. A detailed review of relevant literature is presented in Chapter Two, highlighting previous studies on plant extracts and their antimicrobial activities against drug-resistant bacteria. Chapter Three delves into the research methodology, detailing the experimental design, selection of plant extracts, bacterial strains, and antimicrobial assays conducted. Various parameters, such as minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) and minimum bactericidal concentration (MBC), are determined to assess the potency of the plant extracts against drug-resistant bacteria. Additionally, the mechanisms of action of these plant compounds are elucidated through further analyses. Chapter Four provides a thorough discussion of the findings obtained from the experiments, emphasizing the effectiveness of specific plant extracts in inhibiting the growth of drug-resistant bacterial strains. The results are analyzed, and comparisons are made between different plant extracts to identify the most potent antimicrobial agents. Furthermore, the implications of these findings for potential therapeutic applications are discussed in detail. In Chapter Five, the study concludes with a summary of the key findings, highlighting the significance of the research outcomes in the context of combating drug-resistant bacteria. The limitations of the study are acknowledged, and recommendations for future research directions are provided. Overall, this research contributes valuable insights into the potential of plant extracts as alternative antimicrobial agents against drug-resistant bacteria, underscoring the importance of exploring natural sources for novel drug discovery. Keywords Antimicrobial properties, Plant extracts, Drug-resistant bacteria, Minimum inhibitory concentration, Mechanisms of action, Therapeutic applications.
