Abstract
Periodontitis is a prevalent oral disease characterized by inflammation and destruction of the supporting structures of the teeth, leading to tooth loss if left untreated. Traditional treatment modalities for chronic periodontitis include scaling and root planing, surgical interventions, and antimicrobial therapy. However, these approaches have limitations in terms of efficacy, patient comfort, and postoperative complications. Laser-assisted periodontal therapy has emerged as a promising alternative for the management of chronic periodontitis, offering several advantages such as improved precision, reduced invasiveness, and enhanced patient outcomes. This thesis aims to investigate the efficacy of laser-assisted periodontal therapy in the treatment of chronic periodontitis. The research will explore the potential benefits of laser therapy in terms of clinical outcomes, patient satisfaction, and long-term success rates compared to traditional treatment modalities. The study will also evaluate the safety, cost-effectiveness, and practicality of incorporating laser therapy into routine periodontal practice. The methodology involves a comprehensive literature review to establish the current evidence base regarding the use of lasers in periodontal therapy. Key aspects such as laser types, parameters, treatment protocols, and clinical outcomes will be analyzed to provide a thorough understanding of the subject.
