Abstract
Telemedicine, a rapidly evolving field in healthcare, has shown promising potential in expanding access to medical services, including dental care. This thesis investigates the efficacy of telemedicine in providing dental care services, aiming to assess its impact on patient outcomes, cost-effectiveness, and overall satisfaction. The study employs a mixed-methods approach, combining quantitative analysis of patient data and qualitative interviews with dental professionals and patients. Chapter One provides an introduction to the topic, presenting the background of the study, problem statement, objectives, limitations, scope, significance, structure of the thesis, and definition of terms. Chapter Two comprises a comprehensive literature review, examining existing research on telemedicine in dentistry, its benefits, challenges, and potential areas for improvement. Chapter Three outlines the research methodology, detailing the study design, sampling strategy, data collection methods, and analysis techniques. It also discusses ethical considerations and limitations of the research process. Chapter Four presents a detailed discussion of the findings, including the impact of telemedicine on dental care outcomes, patient satisfaction levels, and cost-effectiveness compared to traditional in-person care. The results of this study suggest that telemedicine can enhance access to dental care services, particularly in underserved areas or for patients with limited mobility. The qualitative data highlight positive patient experiences with tele-dentistry, citing convenience, reduced travel time, and improved communication with providers as key benefits.
