Abstract
This thesis investigates the effectiveness of using virtual reality (VR) technology in managing dental anxiety among patients. Dental anxiety is a common issue affecting a significant portion of the population, leading to avoidance of necessary dental treatments and overall negative impacts on oral health. Virtual reality has emerged as a promising tool in healthcare settings for managing anxiety and pain. This study aims to assess the efficacy of VR interventions in reducing dental anxiety and improving patient experiences during dental procedures. The research begins with a comprehensive literature review that explores the existing knowledge on dental anxiety, virtual reality technology, and their applications in healthcare. The review highlights the potential benefits of VR in creating immersive and distraction techniques to alleviate anxiety and discomfort in dental settings. Following the literature review, the methodology chapter outlines the research design, participant recruitment, data collection methods, and data analysis techniques. The study involves a sample of dental patients who will undergo dental procedures with and without the use of VR technology. The collected data will be analyzed to compare anxiety levels, pain perception, and overall satisfaction between the two groups. The findings chapter presents the results of the study, focusing on the impact of VR interventions on dental anxiety management.
