Abstract
This thesis investigates the effectiveness of laser therapy in the treatment of periodontal diseases. Periodontal diseases are prevalent oral health conditions characterized by inflammation and damage to the supporting structures of the teeth. Traditional treatment modalities have limitations in achieving optimal outcomes, leading to the exploration of alternative therapies such as laser therapy. The objective of this study is to assess the efficacy of laser therapy in managing periodontal diseases compared to conventional methods. The research methodology involves a comprehensive literature review to establish the current understanding of periodontal diseases, laser therapy, and their applications in clinical practice. A mixed-method approach is employed to analyze data from clinical trials, case studies, and systematic reviews to provide a robust evaluation of the efficacy of laser therapy in periodontal treatment. The findings from the literature review reveal promising results regarding the use of laser therapy in reducing inflammation, promoting tissue regeneration, and controlling bacterial growth in periodontal diseases. Laser therapy has shown potential benefits in improving clinical parameters such as pocket depth reduction, attachment level gain, and bleeding on probing compared to conventional treatments. However, the limitations of existing studies, including variations in laser parameters, study designs, and sample sizes, warrant further investigation to validate these outcomes. The discussion section critically analyzes the findings, highlighting the strengths and limitations of laser therapy in periodontal treatment. Factors influencing treatment outcomes, such as laser wavelength, energy density, and patient characteristics, are considered to optimize the therapeutic effects of laser therapy. The implications of incorporating laser therapy into periodontal treatment protocols are discussed, emphasizing the need for standardized guidelines and protocols to ensure consistent and reproducible results. In conclusion, this thesis provides a comprehensive evaluation of the efficacy of laser therapy in the treatment of periodontal diseases. Despite promising results, further research is required to address the limitations and challenges associated with laser therapy implementation in clinical practice. The integration of laser therapy as an adjunct to conventional periodontal treatments has the potential to enhance treatment outcomes and improve patient care in the management of periodontal diseases.
